Livestock Guard Dogs

Our Livestock Guard Dog

We live right by a wetlands plus a highway and Interstate and it didn't take long for us to realize we had coyote packs on our fence line, along with Bald Eagles, Hawks, Fisher/Mink/Weasel, and human. So we brought home a Livestock Guard Dog. Cookie is a Maremma, Akbash, Great Pyrennes cross and has done wonders for keeping the livestock and farm predator free. She patrols the fence line and lets us know when the predators are close.

Cookie - unregistered, spayed female, born 10/23/2016, Maremma/Akbash/Great Pyrennes cross from Northern Minnesota

It didn't take us long to realize Cookie needed a backup. So we have been looking for another Livestock Guard Dog for about 2 years now. I just couldn't find a breeder who clicked. When I came across the ad for 3/4 Anatolian Shepherd 1/4 Akbash I called them up and they were everything we hoped for in a breeder. So we drove out to pick up a male and came home with Thor or Thorson as he is called some days. His parents patrol 200 acres of a turkey farm and were amazing to meet. He fit perfectly on the farm and has been Cookie's shadow on patrol in the evening.

Thor - unregistered, will be neutered, born 7/16/2022, Anatolian Shepherd/Akbash cross from Northern Minnesota.
